Environmental Science/Engineering
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Science (D.Sc.)
Requirements:
The Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science Degrees require the completion of a minimum of 60 academic units of graduate work beyond the Master's degree. 48 of the 60 units are composed of course work and the remaining 12 units are for the Doctoral Dissertation.
Prerequisites:
An earned Master's degree or its equivalent in the same area or a near equivalent, from an accredited or state?approved college or university.
Prescriptive
Education:
40 of the 60 units must be taken as completed course work and the Doctoral Dissertation from the University as a minimum.
Transfer
Credits:
A maximum of 8 units may he accepted in transfer from accredited colleges/universities or other state?approved institutions.
Professional
Experience:
A maximum of 12 units in lieu of life-work / professional credit can be awarded to students enrolled in any Doctoral program.
Curricula for Doctoral Degrees: In addition to approved graduate level work taken prior to admission, requirements include groups of course work which support the students's specialization and establish a minimum of one (1) independent research project, and two (2) graduate level courses from two different doctoral specialization areas, i.e. independent reading and/or directed research. A minimum of one (1) course in statistical method; and one (1) course in theory and practice of empirical research are also required.
